Hošťálková lies in the valley of the Ratibořka stream in the Hostýnské vrchy range. It is about nine kilometres west of Vsetín.

The village's first written record dates to 1505. An Empire-style château in the village dates from 1842–1844. The village is also home to the Roman Catholic Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, which dates from 1798.
